Electro-luminescent wire

One strand of my current work involves the use of EL wire,glowing plastic wire that can be bought very cheaply from china.It 's got amazing qualities and can be bent and cut into shape,recently it comes with small 3 v battery powered inverters,making the stuff mobile. Its not very bright in daylight, so I've been shooting it at dusk ,in low light for maximum effect ,but this comes with its own set of problems on the canon 550d, low light noise, or expensive fast lenses with very short depth of field.
